Thornburys Group Receives Australian Financial Services Licence
We are delighted to announce that we have successfully secured a limited Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) from the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC). From 1 July 2016 all companies providing personal financial advice will be required to hold an AFSL.
This change removes a previous exemption from licensing requirements for accountancy firms who provide personal financial advice. As of 19 February 2016 ASIC had received 346 applications and had granted a total of 87. ASIC Commissioner Greg Tanzer has warned accountants that the start date for the new regime will not be delayed. Receiving our limited AFSL now means the Thornburys group is well prepared for the upcoming legislative change.
We look forward to providing even more clients with personal financial advice as an integrated part of their taxation and business advice.
